Rafael Albuquerque is one of the most distinctive storytellers working in American comics today. Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, he has been a consistent presence in the industry since 2005, building a body of work that spans some of DC's most celebrated titles, including All Star Batman, Animal Man, and Batgirl.
Albuquerque is an Eisner, Harvey, and Inkpot Award winner for his defining work on American Vampire (DC/Vertigo, 2010), the New York Times bestselling series written by Scott Snyder and Stephen King. He has also brought that same vision to creator-owned projects including Mondo Urbano (2010), Eight (2015), and Huck (2015), each one a showcase for his range beyond the superhero genre. His published work also includes Duck and Cover (Comixology) and Detective Comics for DC.
Currently, Albuquerque is illustrating Absolute Green Arrow for DC. The new series introduces a darker version of the classic hero, and fans have responded with huge pre-orders , already signaling another major hit in this artist's quiver!
